The call for papers for the Doctoral Colloquium is now open
We are pleased to announce that in conjunction with the 2nd Accounting Research & Education Conference (AREC) 2012, a Doctoral Colloquium will be held on 21 February 2012 at Universiti Teknologi MARA.
The aim of this doctoral colloquium is to promote awareness on the current development in the accounting profession and practices, and facilitating continuous improvement in accounting education and research. It is also to expose students’ to some critical insights into their own work in terms of topic, relevant literature and research approach.
The doctoral colloquium too gives doctoral students the opportunity to meet with peers and to discuss their work-in-progress with a view to getting constructive feedback that will enhance their research. This doctoral colloquium jointly organized by MyAA, MAREF and ARI.
Abstracts submitted may come from any sections of PhD students’ work in progress. Candidates should submit an abstract of the (planned) doctoral research, outlining the research problem against the existing literature, discussing the methodology and showing some initial empirical results (if applicable). Abstracts should be no longer than 3 pages (plus figures, tables, and references).
This can include the theoretical and practical perspectives of accounting research both in the public and private sectors and in relation to the following areas:
• Development of accounting education and profession
• Accounting professional qualification and competency
• Performance management and control system towards efficiency
• Financial criminology and Forensic accounting for organization transformation
• Ethics and governance under social transformation
• Accounting information system
• Public sector reform, accounting change and accrual accounting
• Accountability and transparency of government, private sectors and NGOs
• Islamic financial practice (Enhancement)
• Taxation Practice and GST
Papers outside of these themes with relevance to the understanding of accounting profession in contributing towards higher quality and efficiency of organization are also welcome.

Papers presented in this doctoral colloquium will be treated as confidential and will not be published.
