The Accounting Innovation Exhibition 2012 is a unique innovation exhibition which provides accounting practitioners, academics and business related people’ key insights, new ideas and creativity in accounting. The objective of the event is to introduce and acknowledge new and innovative accounting related products/system developments from the accounting professionals, academia, and students in universities and higher learning institutions.
 
The AIE exhibits accounting related products, process and techniques that are delivering success for users, business partners, shareholders, consumers, government and public. This may include the digital trends driving the accounting profession, new accounting products for consumes, accounting software applications, financial performance measurement tools, qualitative and quantitative assessment of financial market techniques, accounting social innovation for CSR and etc.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • The abstract submission date : 6 – 31 December 2011
  • Notification of acceptance : 7 January 2012
  • Registration and payment : 7 – 21 January 2012
  • Set-up date : 7 February 2012
  • Exhibition & Judging date : 8-9 February 2012


CRITERIA OF PARTICIPATION
Participation is open to all academics staff and students from universities and higher learning institutions.
There are two categories of participation:

  1. Young Innovator category
    • The Principal Researcher must be a registered student. The student's project must be an outcome of a PhD, a Masters or an undergraduate final year project.
       
  2. Academic Staff category
    • Open to all academic staff (full-time, part-time, study leave)

Each participation must fulfil at least three of the following criteria:

  1. Novelty/originality/innovativeness
  2. Potential to generate wealth
  3. Result of research findings
  4. Use of local materials
  5. Versatility
  6. Practicality
  7. Sustainability
  8. Quality of poster and presentation

Acceptance will be based primarily on originality, significance and quality of contribution to the society.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

  1. Collaborative research projects with industrial partners are highly encouraged. However both parties must agree (in writing) to co-own the Intellectual Property rights.
  2. Research projects that have won medals at other R&D expositions, national or international levels are not accepted. However, exception is allowed if there is a significant improvement in the project since winning the medals.
  3. It is encouraged to the innovators have academic paper published or presented in conference and journal.
  4. Adding members to the project is not allowed after the deadline.
  5. Judgments are final and not subject to appeal. Any correspondence pertaining the results will not be entertained.
  6. Researchers must present supporting evidence to the judges on the judging day.
  7. The organizer reserves the right to reject any application.
  8. Participants are encouraged to display models, prototypes, samples or lap-top presentations to help judges understand the research project better. Participants may also present brochures, pictures, certificates, etc. Each participant will be provided a limited exhibition space.

 
POSTER AND DISPLAY

  • Participants must prepare and pay for their own posters.
    Posters must contain the following items:
    Title
    Names of researchers
    Faculty/Department, University

    1. Introduction
    2. Problem statement
    3. Objectives
    4. Novelty
    5. Usefulness
    6. Commercialisation potential
    7. Pictures (with captions/explanation)
    8. Awards/recognitions received

The poster must display good use of language. If English is used, participants are advised to appoint a language editor to ensure good English.
 
Other than posters, participants are also encouraged to display related brochures, letters of recognition, photographs, etc. that will help judges to understand the research products.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINE

All abstract must be prepared according to the guidelines provided:

  1. The abstract must be written in English, carefully checked for grammar and spelling.
  2. The title should not exceed 14 words. The font for the title is 14 pt in capital letters, Times New Roman.
  3. The abstract text should not exceed 300 words (minimum 150 words). The font for the abstract is 12 pt, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing and justify align text.
  4. It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific facts will be published as typed by the author, if accepted.
  5. Changes in the abstract are possible until 15th January 2012.
  6. All product/system accepted for the competition will be published in the abstract's book with ISBN reference and received certificate of participation.

  1. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for each category – Academic staff and Student.
  2. Best overall
